He has had a number of one man exhibitions at Rozelle Gallery, The Harbour Arts Centre, the Morton Hall and the Dick Institute and has also exhibited in the Royal Glasgow Institute and the R.S.W. His subject matter is predominantly the landscape of the Irvien Valley around the town of Newmilns where he stays. He works in a variety of media: oils pastels, gouache and watercolour and finds his inspiration by working directly in front of the subject throughout the year. As a result of the Foot and Mouth outbreak in 2001, which prevented him from using his usual subject matter, he turned instead to marine subjects. He started to employ the same approach to the painting of boats in harbours and and marinas. This subject, although at first forced on him by necessity, has now become and established part of his repertoire along with his more familiar landscapes.
