Born at Ayr in 1960. I trained in graphics at Cardonald College, Glasgow in the late 70’s before traveling south to study sculpture, painting and film making at St. Martin’s School of Art, London. During my stay in Lon on I worked as a textile designer and illustrator but eventually the magic wore off and I yearned to get back to Scotland to study topography, and it was at this time I became interested in landscape painting.
Now based in Prestwick, Ayrshire I have begun to concentrate on the rich countryside and coastline of this part of the world, which I have been working on for the last 18 months. I have also recently taken several field trips to southern France and will be returning next year to do more preliminary sketches and studies, which will in time become paintings.
Since deciding to take up painting full-time I have experienced some measure of success through exhibiting with Visual Arts Scotland the RGI. At the moment I am exhibiting with local galleries in Ayrshire.
